Dal Baati Churma Recipe: Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Making the Baati

  • Stir together wheat flour and semolina with salt and ghee until they form small pieces. Put small amounts of water into the dough as you work it to obtain a strong texture.
  • Make equal parts from the dough and form round shapes.
  • Bake the items at 180°C for 20-25 minutes by turning them once. Also, cook using traditional stove methods. The baatis need to turn dark brown and become hard like crackers.
  • Heat your baatis in ghee to combine delicious taste and improved texture.

Step 2: Preparing the Dal

  • Soak lentils under running water for thirty minutes before using them. Cook the lentils under pressure with turmeric and salt until they become tender.
  • Add warm cumin seeds and garlic in hot ghee, then add green chilies. Sauté until fragrant.
  • Combine cooked dal with red chili powder and garam masala into the pan. Keep the mixture cooking for 5 to 7 minutes. Adjust salt as needed.

Step 3: Making the Churma

  • Work wheat flour and ghee together to create a tough dough. Form small dough pieces then cook them until they become brown.
  • Press heated disc shapes after frying to make a loose-grain texture.
  • Blend jaggery powder sugar cardamom powder and chopped nuts.
